What is art of dance? (The expression of Happiness Through Dance)

Happiness is a powerful and contagious emotion, often shared and amplified when expressed collectively. Dance, in particular, serves as a universal medium for this expression, where movements like spinning, clapping, and laughter become a reflection of joy and unity.

Throughout history, dance has evolved from its early, ritualistic origins to become a diverse and sophisticated art form. Yet, at its core, it continues to embody the essence of happiness and celebration.

For both performers and audiences, dance creates a shared experience of bliss, transcending barriers and bringing people together. It is not just an art form - it is a celebration of life, a language of joy, and a timeless expression of human connection.

What is Kathak?

The word “Kathak” finds its roots in the Sanskrit term “Katha-Kathan,” which translates to storytelling. In ancient India, the devotion to God was shared through captivating narratives drawn from epics and devotional tales. These stories were recited in temples and village courtyards by storytellers known as “Haridas.” Revered for their ability to weave words into vivid imagery, these narrators were also called “Kathaks”—the bearers of divine tales.

While the precise origins of Kathak as a dance form remain shrouded in mystery, its essence is deeply intertwined with the cultural and spiritual fabric of India. Kathak’s history stretches as far back as the timeless melodies of the “Damaru,” the celestial drum of Lord Shiva, and the ethereal notes of the “Bansari,” the flute of Lord Krishna. This dance form is not merely a performing art but a profound medium of storytelling, devotion, and cultural expression that has withstood the test of time.

Festival Series

Every Vasant Panchami, we host a celebratory showcase *"Ritu Vilasa Nrityotsava"* - that gives emerging Kathak artists a prestigious stage on the sacred day of Saraswati Puja. Our flagship gala *“Nadanta”* – which means Shiva’s Tandava – creator and destroyer of Universe. “Nadanta” literally means “Na Aadi, Na Anta” returns every two years, unveiling fresh choreography, charting student growth, and honoring the dance’s timeless vitality. Together, these landmark events sustain a vibrant platform where talent flourishes and audiences of all backgrounds are inspired.
